Terms and conditions

Last updated 20 September 2021

These terms and conditions apply to all services provided by B28 Maths Tutor.

1-to-1 tuition

Lessons will be charged at the agreed rate per hour, payable monthly in advance, by bank transfer or monthly standing order, on or before the 1st day of each calendar month. If payment is by standing order then the amount should be based on 4 weeks per month and adjustments will be made on a termly basis (or at other times by mutual agreement) to balance any over- or underpayment.

Fees for any lessons arranged on an ad-hoc basis are due by bank transfer at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson.

After the first lesson, a handling charge of £2 per payment will be levied for payments by cash or cheque.

The student is invited to join the private Facebook community, and if the parent/guardian so wishes then they can also join. Group members are encouraged to support each other and answer each other’s questions. Membership of this group does not expire, but inappropriate behaviour will result in removal from the group.

Please note that the student is booked in for a particular time slot; the Tutor undertakes to always be available for the full duration of the agreed slot, but if the student arrives late then the time will not be made up afterwards.

If there are any lessons you are unable to attend then the Tutor must be notified before the 15th of the preceding month. A maximum of 2 further cancellations per term are permissible; if this is exceeded then the Tutor reserves the right to terminate tuition so that the slot can be offered to someone else. Any lessons cancelled by the Student, or their Parent/Guardian, with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full. This notice period allows the slot to be offered to someone on the waiting list.

If the student normally has face-to-face lessons but has an infectious illness (such that they would be expected to stay away from their place of education/work), or is unable to travel to the lesson venue, then no face-to-face lesson will take place, but an online lesson will be offered as a substitute. The Tutor is under no obligation to offer an alternative lesson slot for any reason.

If the Tutor is obliged to cancel a lesson then either the lesson will be rearranged for a mutually convenient time or that lesson will not be charged.

Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date, subject to two paid lessons’ notice on either side. Any overpayment will be refunded. Both parties reserve the right to terminate lessons should they no longer be considered beneficial to the Student.

Online courses

A one-off payment provides access to the course for the advertised duration, or indefinitely if no time limit is advertised. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the course content then a refund may be claimed for up to 14 days after enrolment.

Inappropriate behaviour may result in removal without notice, in which case no refund will be offered.

Membership programmes

Membership programmes are paid monthly and can be terminated at any time. If you terminate your membership then it will run on until the next payment falls due and will then expire.

Inappropriate behaviour may result in removal without notice, in which case no refund will be offered.

Limitation of Liability

While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure that the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and the Tutor cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Tutor accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s services or any errors or omissions in the contents of the Tutor’s learning materials.

Proceeding with registration and/or the purchase of B28 Maths Tutor’s services indicates acceptance of the above terms and conditions, and also of the Privacy Policy.
